Have a fabulous Friday, Friends!
Meet Lilly Robbins, your tween daughter’s new best friend.
Lily is a sixth-grade redhead who gets a little infatuated with fashion after receiving compliments from a high-end fashion expert. Lily obsesses over becoming a model; but God shows up in the middle of Lily’s crazy experience. The bottom line is real beauty- and that’s Lily’s lesson to share with readers.
When Tristina (my 8 yr. old) and I reviewed this book together after she read it, this is what she said:
It was a really good book because it taught me the lesson that fashion isn’t everything. And I think the point of the book is that you should believe in yourself that you are pretty even if others don’t think it. God says that no matter what people think you look like on the outside, you have an inner beauty on the inside.
Honestly, I can’t add much to her words! So, from the mouth of babes, I present to you a giveaway from Tommy Nelson (love those folks!) To enter, simply leave a comment answering:
How do you apply God’s definition of beauty with your daughters in today’s world?
Giveaway open until 5/31/12, 11 pm. Winner announced Friday.
Disclosure: Tommy Nelson provided this book to me; all opinions are my own.

I don’t have daughters, but I do teach fourth grades, and I am careful to not comment much on their appearance/clothing/etc. Instead, I comment on their kindness, their service and their smarts.
I tutor a little girl with whom I’d love reading this over break!
Thanks for the chance!
My daughter is entering the 6th grade in the fall and she would absolutely love this book. She has had her share of trouble with “mean girls” this past year and I know she could use this affirmation that God created her and loves her just the way she is and it’s the inside the counts not the outside.
I never call eating healthy a diet. I try to stress health and good hygiene. When my 10 year old talks about looking different, I try to impress to her that we are exactly how God made us. She has an issue from birth that we are working through now that she is getting older. Some days it bothers her and I really just try to help her understand that’s what makes her special.
My daughter is still pretty young, but I tell her that God made her just the way she is and that he loves her. I sometimes say, “Why are you so cute? Because God made you that way!”
True beauty isn’t found in the media and world’s definition of beautiful, but in God’s definition of beautiful – a heart that loves.
Amen!!
I tell her often how loved she is and often say how beautiful she is inside and out. When she makes a poor choice, says, or does something that isn’t so “pretty” we talk about letting God’s light shine through us all the time, and we are most beautiful when others see Jesus when they look at us.
