Emptiness is a difficult emotion to simply describe. It is that feeling you have not just when you are tired, but when you have given it everything you’ve got. Nothing remains, but it may not be from fatigue. When you feel empty, it’s like a piece of your soul is missing.

Maybe you are grieving the loss of a loved one and that grief is causing you to feel empty.

Perhaps your heart aches with the space left open by one you love who didn’t return your love.

Sometimes the emptiness comes from feeling unfulfilled in our goals or dreams.

Life can be so full; yet without a deep heart satisfaction, we continually wrestle with complete contentment.  No matter the lack of fulfillment, God’s Word holds the promises to combat the emptiness and find fulfillment in Christ. So today I’m sharing these 13 Bible verses for when you feel empty.

I am the LORD your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it. Psalm 81:10

For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:10

so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:17-19

And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. Philippians 1:9-11

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Rom. 15:13

Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, I Peter 1:8

Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.” Psalm 126:2

Everything of God gets expressed in him, so you can see and hear him clearly. You don’t need a telescope, a microscope, or a horoscope to realize the fullness of Christ, and the emptiness of the universe without him. When you come to him, that fullness comes together for you, too. His power extends over everything. Colossians 2:9&10 MSG

May Jesus fill your emptiness and use it for his glory today.

I have felt empty and alone for a year now. We, my family of four took in two more kids. They are family but still very hard. My blood kids are older and didn’t need me as much. I was beginning to find myself, God open the door for my first missions trip, which seemed to slam shut afterwards. Now two younger kids keeps me home and busy . I know I sound childish and greedy but my little family was just beginning to be a family of God.
I just pray I can be what God is asking me to be with my family of 6.
    Thank u

    1. Jesus, I ask you would be with Christina now. Caring for small children at home is demanding work in every way. I pray she would find her strength in you and in this “waiting period” she would be drawn closer and closer to you. Christina- God is with you and wants to work through you right where you are. Praying for your fulfillment through the work he has for you!!

  3. I am feeling so empty now, confused, mad, sad, everything all at once. For the past 2years I have seen very .little of My grandchildren because of a nasty custody suit, which My oldest son is going thru. And just a few days ago I have received the news of My husband having a couple of large tumors in his liver, plus spots on a lymfnode and his lungs. We are waiting on the test resultat of a biopsi of the liver. The doctors say that it doesn’t look good. I just don’t know how I can go thru this. On top of everything we have a special needs son, 14 yrs old WHO needs both of his parents. PLEASE pray that the Great Physician will come to the rescue. I need to stand strong. Help me Lord. // Jazmin

    1. Jesus, I pray for Jazmin right now, that you would comfort her heart as only you can. In this state of emptiness, may she cling to you and your promises. Please give her the strength through these valleys. Jazmin, my heart aches for you. May the Lord surround you with his mercy, grace and peace. You can do this with him!!

    3. Jasmin,

I stumbled on this searching for my own peace and just wanted you to know I will pray for you. Do not fear, God is not Dead!!

    4. Jazmin, I’ve been there where everything closes in around you and it feels like there is nothing but problems and that is when I met The Lord for the first time. It was not until after that crazy storm that I realized that Jesus was really working in my life and sustaining the one I loved. Prayer works, faith works. Believe on Him that healed the blind and the lame. Ask for prayers and band together and submit your husband unto The Lord. I have seen tumors that should have been malignant, turn benign. Claim the promises in the bible. You have to fight for your husband. Try not to give in to despair. I know that is a hard thing to do but when you feel empty, when you feel like crying, cry to God and tell him exactly what’s on your mind. Pray and believe. I will be praying with you too. I’m still here after the worst time in my life. Believe me that things get better and healing is real. You can do this, you can get through. You have the mightiest man on your side. Good luck Jazmin. God Bless.
