I believe there are 5 prayers God always answers. His Word promises he will fulfill his work and when I'm struggling with wanting answers from God, I go back to this little list I have on my phone notes. What are the prayers God always answers?

Like me, you may  have heard many sermons on prayer and the answers to prayers. I’ve analyzed my own prayers and pondered the answer many times over. Will it be “yes?” What if it is “no?” And what if I’m in the “not now” category?  While much Scripture can be mulled over and meditated on regarding prayer, I believe there are 5 prayers God always answers. His Word promises he will fulfill his work and when I’m struggling with wanting answers from God, I go back to this little list I have on my phone notes. What are the prayers God always answers?

1.Lord, forgive me.

David begged for forgiveness after committing adultery and murdering a man. His heart indicated full sincerity and humility to the Lord. In Psalm 86:5, David’s psalm reveals his firsthand knowledge of God’s forgiveness. “For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.”  I know that personally, when I’m growing pushy in my prayers to God, God always answers this prayer: “Lord, please forgive me.”

2. God, help me trust you.

Standing in the physical presence of Jesus, a man longed for Jesus to heal his daughter. Jesus told him all things were possible if he would believe. In raw anguish, he cried out, “I believe; help my unbelief!” On our own, we cannot trust God in the way he longs for us to trust him. But when we ask, he always provides the grace and strength to trust him more. (Mark 9)

3. Father, your will be done.

A portion of the words to the Lord’s Prayer includes: “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Any time our prayers include a longing for God’s kingdom to be advanced and his will to be acknowledged, he will answer our prayers. Jesus set a perfect prayer pattern for us and God will always answer this prayer. (Matthew 6:9-13)

4. Lord, do your work in and through me.

God loves to see our willingness. When my children willingly do their homework or chores without my asking, I love to see their hearts unfolding. I adore their kindness and believe in their abilities. God longs to see us make ourselves willing and when we do? Look out! You may be surprised at the assignment you’ll receive or the beauty of his timing. Every time I’ve asked God to help me see the opportunities I have to live for him, he reveals them to me. Whether through His Word, a conversation, or the Spirit speaking to my heart.  Philippians 1:6 promises that he will work in our lives and hearts. And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. This is one prayer that we know he will answer!

5. God, I don’t know what to say.

I’ve prayed this prayer when I’ve been confused about circumstances. I’ve prayed this prayer out of desperation and depression. Many times I’ve just flat-out told God “I don’t know what to say to you, but you know.” Then I simply still my mind and body to allow His Spirit to intercede on my behalf. Romans 8:26 reads,”Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” What a wonderful heavenly Father we have!

I’m sure there are other prayers God always answer. These are not the only ones by any means. But these prayers are ones that he has proven himself to answer over and over again in Scripture. I feel so blessed to have experienced these answers in my own life. I hope that this summary will help someone who is searching for answers to prayer.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6

By his grace,

Rachel

  3. I loved this lesson. God does answer those five prayers always. And sometimes when it doesn’t seem as though he is answering our prayers, he does in fact answer them. I grew up in a home where there was major dysfunction and abuse of my younger brother and me. Our parents fed and kept us clothed, but the abuses were other types. Many times as a child whose parents never attended church but told us children we could go to church but not join any of them until we grew up, I tried to pray to God, but we did not even have a Bible in our home. And when I did pray for God to save me and my brother from the abuse, it didn’t seem as though he answered. I had heard the bible phrase “Suffer the little children to come to me,” and so I thought it meant that God wanted children to suffer. I didn’t think God was good for children, and it was a long time before I began to believe again. When I did, I realized what a blessing it was for me to have survived such challenges. Without them, we would never develop compassion for others or be able to help them to understand that even these things are blessings from God. And I would never have had such a meaningful journey to discover and believe in God, or develop my strength as a human being. Although those things were emotionally and otherwise painful to me, today I am a better person because I survived, and not only survived, but learned a lot of good life skills. I am a person today who stands up for those who are unable to stand up for themselves, be they children, women, people with physical and developmental challenges and others who might become victims at some point. So yes, God does answer those prayers and he answers our prayers when we don’t know he has done that.

    1. Oh what a testimony you have!! Thank you for sharing it with us and for being devoted to the Lord.
